FINALLY, what I was looking for! - Review by

I started out with the Scottevest Sterling Jacket. However, on a recent trip to New Zealand, I discovered all of its flaws: it didn't have a hood, the zipper was only one-way and got stuck easily, it was too heavy, there were so many pockets that it weighed me down, it was not water repellent. When the zipper got stuck and I couldn't open it, I emailed the company and they wouldn't send me another one without detailed photos! So much for trusting the customer!
Disappointed, I returned home, still hoping to find the jacket/vest I was seeking. Wow, found the Voyager Jacket II! I got it only a few days ago and have already found it was exactly what I was looking for. It's lighter weight. It has the drawstring waist that doesn't make me look so much like the Pillsbury Doughboy. It has a hood! (And in the Pacific Northwest, that is a MUST!). Though I'm not crazy about the color (khaki), I find that the pockets make sense. The zippers all work. It's not so heavy when I load it up that I feel like I should have packed everything into a carry-on. It is long enough to cover my butt. Another wonderful feature is the side zippers that give it a "relaxed fit" over my hips when I put a lot of stuff into the pockets. I also like the two-way zipper that you can open when you are sitting in the car or on a plane.
I'm now using this instead of a purse when I go shopping or to the bank. It takes a little getting used to, but I think it will be wonderful for everyday use as well as my next trip, to Canada. Getting through the airport security should be a breeze, and if it's too warm in June when I get to my destination, it's small enough to roll up and stow until a sudden shower. Magellan, you got it RIGHT! After many hours of searching, this is exactly what I wanted. I hope it lasts forever.

Very pleased - Review by

This jacket did everything I wanted it to do. It made going through the airports a snap. All the zippers worked well. I used the jacket as an outside layer over fleece, a wind & rain jacket, and then a vest. I was pleased in every way. I also bought this jacket for my husband because we needed "safari" colors. I wish you offered more shades of khaki so we didn't have to look like twinsies! The only other suggestion is a draw-string in the hood for high wind conditions.

Great jacket--BUT STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT - Review by

1. REMOVABLE HOOD-this should be an easy fix

and better made-rather than frayed

4. REVERSIBLE COULD BE FUN and a real place.

Love it! - Review by

I really liked the original Voyager jacket, but lamented the lack of a hood. The new Voyager II came through with a hood, and improved the jacket's travel credentials with a lighter fabric. The fit is similar to the original Voyager. I found that the original it fits a little large, so I downsized from my usual XL to an L, and the fit is perfect. However, if you think you will be wearing heavier layers underneath, you may want to stick with the larger size. With the addition of the hood, this jacket will be perfect for future travels: I won't have to carry both a rain jacket and a light jacket. I wish Magellan would make this jacket in colours other than black and khaki... I'd buy another one if it did!

Cheri43 - Review by

Runs small. I ordered this jacket in Khaki/ Small. It was beautifully constructed and I was pleased with the product. However, I am 5'2" / 118# and it was too tight across the chest when fully zipped. I returned it for an exchange to Med..

Great Jacket - Review by

This jacket is just what I have been looking for. The pockets hold everything that I need to carry on the airplane, even the Ipad. Even with the pockets full it still fits beautifully with no bulges. The length is just perfect ( I'm 5" 5".)

It is good for temperate climates, but would be too hot to wear as a vest in a tropical climate.

Disappointed - Review by

I wanted to really like this jacket because of the number of pockets but am disappointed with the following features: (1) The hood is not removable and creates so much volume in the collar that the collar stays vertical in the back of my neck and feels uncomfortable. (2) The drawstring cords have unfinished, fray ends, which looks cheap and unkempt. (3) The two sleeve snaps at the wrist are set in such a way that the sleeve is still too wide for anyone with slender or even normal wrists. (4) For a light summer jacket the length is too long; I ordered M and am about 5'4" and the jackets sits about mid-thigh. Pros: Great pockets and the fabric is nice. But given the disadvantages, I'll have to regrettably return it.
