This is great bag. It will hold an iPad in the main compartment. I love the convertible aspect. On a recent trip to Italy some of the locations did not allow backpacks. Had I had this bag I would not have had to stuff everything in my coat and leave my backpack on the bus. My husband had to leave his backpack also so the magellan travel coat saved us. Next time I will have this convertible purse. I love the security of the bag also. Plus the bag is cute. I have recommended it to a friend who will be traveling this spring.

Comfortable and attractive multi-purpsoe travel purse/backpack
I am hoping to take a trip to Central America in a couple of months and wanted a backpack purse for walking a lot, convenience and especially wanted something secure (anti-theft) which this is said to be by a reviewer and also as advertised. I spoke with someone at Magellan about the slate blue which looked like a muted turquise on line and I did not want that color. She took the time to find it there at the company and described it as a mixture of muted blue green and I decided to try it. I appreciate that customer service. I received it earlier today, was pleasantly surprised and wore it on a long (4 miles) walk today here in Alaska where I live. It was comfortable and should work for my purposes, I'm hoping. The straps for a backpack are a bit thin but it seems sturdy and, as I said, comfortable enough. I do like the color; it is muted and will blend in with most things. It's an attractive backpack purse, has nice compartments and I diseagree with one reviewer about its opening being narrow. If one opens it all the way out, its quite ample, I think. I like that it was on sale, too. Nice purse so far which could serve many functions. I am pleased. I might have liked it a bit larger but no complaints.

I got this as a Christmas gift, and honestly, I almost returned it, because my first attempt to put my ipad inside and load it for a trip was not successful. I thought I'd have to resort to putting it inside the only compartment that it seemed to fit in (middle), which wouldn't have worked well at all, if you are putting documents in that same area. So, I slept on it and tried again this morning and it BARELY fits. I'm going to keep and use it, but if I were the designer, even one more inch and the ability to open the two outer parts a bit wider would solve all the bag's problems. Otherwise, it's well made and I like the fact that you could put the backpack on front wise when you are moving through crowds and keep your valuables front and center. If it were a tintsy bit bigger, it would be a slam dunk!

Went to france n Germany n then later to Puerto Rico. Great travel bag fit my iPad nicely n other belongings. Trimmed the wire poked thru on seam. No big deal. Liked it so much I got my mom one in black. Mine is purple. Used in conjunction with RFID passport wallet. Great combo! Would do again in a heart beat

I really like this bag. and love the fact that it is so versatile. Very durable fabric. I ordered the slate blue and it's a nice color for me. I didn't want black and wanted a color that wasn't too bright. The only thing I didn't like is that I would like to have a bigger opening. When you can put so much into the bag, it would be nice to be able to open it and see everything in it. I switched the light from the side pocket and put it on the main opening of the bag. It felt very secure when my hands were full and I quickly converted it into a backpack.
