Travelite luggage scale
By Robyn W., Campbells Creek, IT in October, 2012
Haven't used it yet on a trip, but it is great as it is lightweight, fits easily in your hand & the added bonus of having the torch, so you cut down on gadgets to carry with you. Will fit in your handbag. I have a bigger scale & did not take it on our last O/S trip, so this will be excellent.
extra features

Got this scale to use for our overseas excursions. Easy to use and the built in light will eliminate one more item to pack, The weight matches the weight on our Wii fit scale.
Inaccurate and Awkward
By Deborah H., Baytown, TX in October, 2012
We needed it for measuring luggage, weighing over 50 pounds. It gave us a far from accurate weight, and it was very awkward to hold, with a bag that heavy.
Very good, but...
By Sarah S., Hope, ME in December, 2011
I'm glad I bought this, find the red/green to indicate overweight useful, but had a bit of difficulty getting the display to show actual weight (which matters when outside the US because the weight limits vary). Also wish it had a recessed on/off button; as it is, I fear it will turn on and run the battery down when my suitcase is tightly packed, so I have to remove the batteries. However, a sandwich baggie takes care of that. It is light, easy to strap to the bag, etc. Recommended, but with the above caveat.
great scale
By Anne D., Elkhart, IN in December, 2011
This scale is ver easy to use and uses batteries that are easy to get.
Helpful luggage scale
By John O., Orlando, FL in September, 2011
Works as it should. Helped save me money. Bag was over 50lbs. and was able to move a few items to another bag before getting to the airport.
travelite luggage scale
By Nancy H., Lancaster, OH in August, 2011
I chose the luggage scale because, I was taking only one bag on the trip and I wanted to be sure my carry on bag was not over weight before I boarded the plane. It was also light and small enough to fit in my "purse". Since I'm not machanically minded, it took a little bit of time to figure out how to make it work. I saved the directions and I should be ok on future flights.
Great
By Marilyn G., Divide, CO in June, 2011
I had to replace the batteries to get it to work, but then it was GREAT. I wish that I had made this purchase before I went to Europe last year. It would have saved me a lot of stress. I had an over weight bag. I almost missed my flight because of the hassle it caused. That will not happen again thanks to my new luggage scale.
Handy Tool
By Tracey K., Mountain Home AFB, ID in January, 2011
I bought this scale for my daughter after reading reviews of other scales and watching the 'how to' video. She's a freshman in college and had to purge some items from her suitcase at the airport before she came home for Christmas...but NOT on the return trip. She was able to do that at home! I appreciate that the scale came with a battery. The digital numbers are easy to read but that red warning light lets you know right away if you need to take something out!
A must for frequent travellers
By wendy s., BC in November, 2010
Very useful item to take on trips. I use the flashlight to check for bedbugs in the hotel rooms. Given a few to my family.
This is a MUST for all travelers!
By Anne B., Manchester, CT in October, 2010
I am re-writing my review and giving it 5 STARS now that the flashlight is working. The SCALE is easy to use and fits into your luggage so you can take it with you for the return trip. This will surely avoid all the fear when your luggage is hoisted on the scale. (We all know that feeling!) Now you can arrive to the airport confident that you are under 50 pounds. I love the flashlight because sometime in Jamaica, the power goes out, so this is a great perk!
Cool Item!
By Vicky H., Carnduff, SK in August, 2010
Got this to give as part of a package Christmas present. What a neat idea for the travellers on your list.
Travel scale
By Corey M., MINOT, ND in July, 2010
Every time that I go scuba diving my gear bag weighes in at 50# on the airline scale, way to close when the price of bags overweight can cost $100-200.
Does what it says plus a flashlight
By Barry W., VA in May, 2010
While about the same size as the other luggage scales, the shape and the fact the metal piece fold ups against the handle makes it much easier to store and slip in that last item you weigh before leaving home. The flashlight is handy (as there was a power outage one night at my last stay) and is pretty bright. Overall very satisfied
Good buy
By Donna S., Cohoes, NY in April, 2010
As a chronic overpacker, a luggage scale is absolutely essential. This one is very good. For me it overweighed my luggage a bit, but that certainly is better than underweighing it! I have two complaints. The strap is not located in the correct position on the scale. It should be in the middle so that you can grasp the scale with BOTH hands easily when weighing heavy bags and the flashlight can be a bit of a pain if you don't remove the batteries when travelling.
Great; with som caveats
By Gerry M., Waterloo, ON in March, 2010
This does the job, as advertised. Some considerations: a) ours weighs slightly under by about 2 - 3 %; not serious uunless you run into an extremely picky check-in agent and an extremely picky airline (we did); b) the "click-together" strap is less convenient than a hook; c) the built-in go-nogo limits work for most airlines, except Air NewZealand, which has decided it would like bags to be 20 kg or less; d) if you pack this, take out batteries, as the light can turn on and run them down.
Great way to avoid excess weight charges
By Kay D., Montgomery, AL in March, 2010
I purchased one of these scales for a trip to India to visit family. The scale is spot on. It is easy to use and lightweight enought to throw in your carry-on. The lb/kg conversion is great when traveling to other countries. My family in India loved it so much that they wanted to keep it. This purchase was to buy one for my personal use.
Luggage Scale
By Dawn T., LeRoy, IL in February, 2010
This scale makes it so easy to find out the weight of my luggage. This really helps when traveling on planes. There are so many different luggage weights that are used for flights on planes. I think this will help me to now have to pay extra for weight.
Practical item

I found it very useful and convienent to use for my recent trip. It saved me overweight charges
Best Scale Ever
By Amer H., Brooklyn, NY in October, 2009
It is the best scale ever. Very accurate and easy to use. I especially like the built in flash light which came very handy when traveling to less developed countries.
Glad I read the reviews
By Thomas H., Muncie, IN in October, 2009
Prior reviews were very helpful on how to use. Flashlight seems very good. Nice to have both in one device.
Works well but hard to lift
By Lori B., San Carlos, CA in September, 2009
This scale works well and the controls are simple. I like the fact that it doubles as a flashlight. But it is nearly impossible to lift a heavy bag with it using only one hand, especially for a short person like me. I have to use my arm muscles to lift it up off the ground. When simply carrying the bag, I can keep my arm pretty straight. There also ought to be a covering over the buttons. They could be pressed while packed and use up the battery, so I will remove the battery to pack it.
Helpful but Confusing
By Rachel Y., Bainbridge Island, WA in May, 2009
This device is a real convenience - but it's confusing to operate, and the instructions are not imprinted on the device itself. It will EITHER work as a flashlight OR as a scale; and it takes a few seconds to shift from one mode to the other. Read the instructions and you'll be fine.
Handy tool
By Alvin W., San Francisco, CA in May, 2009
The TravelLite flashlite/luggage scale is a great tool. In a world where there are charge for overweight luggage, this tool is a must have. The LED indicator tells you when it's ready to read the luggage weight, and will tell you be a red LED light when your over 50lbs. There a few design flaws: (1) the hanging strap should of been located in the middle of the unit. For heavy luggage, holding the unit with both hands is the only way to lift the luggage off the ground. Holding the unit from one side does not work. (2) the LED Flashlite turn on when anything hits the flashlite button. There are times when the flashlite has been turned on inside the luggage. This runs down the batteries. Overall it's a good tool, and will avoid any over weight charges for airline luggage.
Made a hectic day easier

I travel a great deal and am always fretting about the weight of my bags. This nifty combo tool was easy to find and was idiot proof.
Avoid Unpacking Your Underwear Infront Of Everyone
By Kevin S., CA in May, 2009
I am so happy with the Travelite Luggage Scale because I avoided unpacking my suitcase in front of the ticket line like a woman behind me. We have all been told to always have the proper undergarments in case of an accident, (but nobody ever told us to properly weigh our luggage before having to unpack our underwear). Travelite is a well made product, a great price, small and handy, but a true life saver when avoiding public humiliation and overweight charges.
Love the color! Great little flashlight and scale!
By Laurie C., New York City, NY in April, 2009
I love the cool orange color of this scale. So easy to find. I use this to weigh luggage and it works very well. I like the green and red lights, very easy to use. The flashlight is a great bonus. I keep this scale in my basement with my luggage. Whenever I need a flashlight around the house I can never seem to find the ones I keep in my junk drawers, so I always end up heading to my luggage and using the Travellite! Great product, I am very happy with it and recommend it to others.
More convenient to carry separate scale and flashlight
By Mary B., Newtown, PA in March, 2009
The concept of a combined flashlight and a scale has possibilities. However, though the flashlight is very useful, adding a scale of this shape is clumsy and hard to maneuver in lifting a 50 lb., 26 inch suitcase. The scale inadvertently switches from lbs to kgs in mid air. The light switches from green to red anywhere from 46-50 lbs---not 50 lbs. I prefer to travel with the easier to use and cheaper luggage scale sold by Magellan's. A luggage scale is an absolute necessity when flying and c
Very useful and easy to use.
By Paul H., San Diego, CA in March, 2009
I always worry about getting to the airport and having to pay the extra fees for overweight luggage. I've been one of those passengers who has held up the line to shift contents from one suitcase to another. The other passengers hated me. This takes the guess work out of packing. Will use it on every trip in the future.
Handy flashlight
By Karin S., Las Vegas, NV in February, 2009
The scale works great, didn't think I would need the flashlight, but it actually really comes in handy while traveling! I travel a LOT.....
Great product
By Craig J., Lancaster, PA in February, 2009
Got this for a Christmas present and used it for my flight home. Works great and it beats stepping on a bathroom scale with a heavy bag. Great idea for a gift.
won't travel w/out it
By Leslie S., CA in February, 2009
I bought one for myself in Dec. & then 10 more for family and friends for Chrstmas gifts. Wouldn't travel w/ out it. The airport scales matched exactly what my travelite said and hearing from my family and friends the travelite was one of their favorite gifts.
very helpful!
By Pam K., Boulder, CO in February, 2009
Works great, easy to use, and easy to find in luggage because of orange color.
Very Useful
By Jesse B., Syracuse, NY in January, 2009
Got one for Christmas and it worked great so I'm ordering one for my parents. Mine was accurate, and the flashlight was handy too.
