  • A Word About Flat Irons
Be advised that many flat irons will not work correctly with voltage converters, and can in some cases be damaged. A better solution is to invest in a dual voltage flat iron. These can be used anywhere with the right adaptor plugs and allow you to save weight and space in your luggage.

Adds 20 Minutes To Your Routine
By Molly P., IL in May, 2012

•   I purchased this straightening iron for a trip to Europe. Although the actual iron heats and straightens very well...the small size of the iron only allows you to work with very tiny sections of hair. I have shoulder length hair, and it added at least 20 minutes to my morning routine. On the positive side, the iron didn't take up much room in my suitcase.

  Small but powerful

•   I purchased this for travel but take it to work / gym when I want to freshen my hair before going on to the next event. I have very think hair, and had no trouble straitening it with this product. I had to do my hair in pieces, but I have to do that with my regular size iron as well.

  Small but Mighty
By Kay H., TX in October, 2011

•   I needed a flat iron to take on a trip to Ireland. This fit the bill so well. It heats rapidly and gets hot enough to do the job, but is so small and lightweight. It is really too small to expect to use on a lot of hair, but I only needed it to straighten my bangs so it worked quite well. I have long hair so would not expect it to straighten my entire mane. Overall it is a good dual voltage product at a reasonable price.

  LOVE it!

•   I bought this for my trip to Italy this summer. I was a little worried that it wouldn't actually work without a button to switch between currencies. It worked GREAT! It heats up fast just like it says. I even lent it to some others in our group. Now I take it on domestic trips as well, because it takes up so little space. My hair is thick, but not too long, and it works great!

  Size vs. usefulness
By Susan B., FL in August, 2011

•   I bought this compact flat iron because I like to travel with only carry-on luggage.

PROS: VERY lightweight. Heats up fast. Gets very hot. Comes with heat-resistant case.

CONS: Heating surface is VERY tiny. The heating surface is only 2 inches by 1/2 inch. It is useful for bangs, short hair, touch-ups, ends. If you have long or thick hair, it won't be very efficient. I have chin-length hair and it is very frustrating trying to flat-iron a whole head of hair.

If you want it only for small areas or touch-ups, and if your packing space is limited, then this would work.

But for doing a whole head of hair, long or short, you probably need a travel flat-iron that is somewhat larger.

  Perfect size for Travel
By Ginger R., UT in June, 2011

•   This was a great buy. It was a perfect size for travel and only needed the adapter.

  Almost Perfect
By Nancy B., CA in May, 2011

•   This flat iron is great for short hair. Only negative is the inability to lower heat setting. But it's a standby for me...not only for trips but also at home.

•   Love the compact size. Having the felt jacket to use as both a counter top protector and hot storage is a bonus. It heats up in seconds! My only concern is that there is no heat control.

  Wonderful Mini Straigtening Iron
By Carolyn R., KS in July, 2010

•   The size of this item is terrific for packing. Heats up well. I have another non-dual volt mini straigtening iron that is much larger and not practical for packing needs. This one is Ideal for international travel.

  Not effective
By Catherine G., CA in June, 2010

•   I bought this mini flat iron with dual voltage for an upcoming trip. Luckily, I thought that I should try it out first. The heat plates are just so tiny and narrow that it didn't straighten my hair at all. i had to go out and purchase another flat iron for travel.

  Excellent hair tool
By Angela R., AZ in May, 2010

•   Bought this small iron with the various international adapters and used it in Italy recently. It heated up well and did a great job straightening my wavy hair. It will definitely be a fixture in my carry-on whenever I travel domestic or international.

  Works, but tiny!!
By Kasey R., CA in February, 2010

•   I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the descriptions of this item when I bought it, because I was very shocked at how small it was when it arrived at my house! It's about the size of one of those really fat sharpie markers. I just thought it would be bigger. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it does get very hot and is definitely great for travel. The only thing is, because of its size, if you have very long or very thick hair, this is not the iron for you! Short hair? Perfect!

  super little straightener
By Martha D., RI in January, 2010

•   This straightener is everything it is promised to be - teeny and effective! It takes up no room in my suitcase, heats up in a few seconds, and straightened my hair just fine. I am taking it to England, so its dual voltage mechanism will be tested there. But it worked great on a recent trip to Florida!

  Mini iron
By Brianna B., TX in November, 2009

•   The travel iron is a perfect size for slipping into a bag and takes little space which is ideal. The down side is that it has no heat proof tip so you cannot hold the iron and control it easily; also the iron surface area is too small to cover much territory so you spend more time fixing your hair than with a regular iron. You have to determine if the trade off is fair - save space or save time but not both.
