  Rainbow TSA Locking Luggage Strap
By Christine H., IT in June, 2010

•   I found the lock quite hard to open (I have severe arthritis in my hands), but it worked fine (the American authorities obviously had no problems opening it as they had been through my luggage with a tooth comb!) and at least it added a touch of colour to my journey!

  PLASTIC CONNECTORS BROKE
By FREDERICK G., PA in November, 2009

•   During a recent arrival in Rome - two (2) of my Magellan Locking Luggage Straps had the plastic connectors snapped-off. It appears that this product is not strong enough to take luggage conveyor belt snags. I'm ordering again in hope this will not happen again. FJG

Failed After Two Months of Hard Use
By Bob E., TX in March, 2009

•   I used this strap and an unlocked strap on my checked wheeled pack during a 3 month trip around the world through Asia and part of the MIddle East in the last quarter of 2008. The locking strap failed after two months of hard use. Only once did I pick up my bag that it was not trailing on the conveyer. All baggage handlers grab it to lift the bag and pull it off. Since I had secured it to my bag with a black cable tie I didn't lose it as I surely would have otherwise. Works as an identifier

  Important addition to luggage
By Ray P., PR in January, 2009

•   A distinctive marker for luggage identification and an added security feature accessable by TSA if needed.

  Great Product

•   Great product! So nice to have the luggage under lock and key with only security people able to unlock. Although, even with the locking system, security people took several items in our luggage. We tried!

Locking Luggage Strap loosens during use
By Fred M., NJ in November, 2008

•   The plastic buckle on the "Locking Luggage Strap" I bought for a recent trip slips during baggage handling by the airline. This leaves the strap loose on the bag and subject to slipping and snaging. Not a good design when compared to pre-TSA friendly straps I previously bought from Magellan's.

•   I have an aluminum Halliburton suitcase which I have had for years, but can no longer use the built-in combination lock. Since this luggage strap is not only lockable, but is TSA-friendly, it is the perfect way to ensure my aluminum suitcase stays locked. The strap is also highly visible at the carousel!

•   I am very pleased with the quality of this product. It is made with good material and should hold up very well. Thank you.

•   Similar to a locking strap that I've used for years. Unlike other similar straps, the ends of the strap are contained, so they shouldn't come loose. Since the dials on the lock are stiff, it's a bit difficult to set the combination, since you have to push in a pin and hold it, while setting. However, once set, it's easy to work with.

•   I bought one of these straps in red, and when I arrived in Europe I discovered that the TSA had slashed it instead of using their key to unlock it. As you can imagine, I was upset at the TSA people, but the fact that the strap was red and the TSA symbol also is red may have led them to not recognize it was TSA approved.

My recommendation: the strap is fine, but NEVER buy it in red - the risk is too great. The best choice would be black so the TSA symbol would stand out, but it is not now available in black.
