Related Travel Tip:

  • Sun Block and Insect Protection
If you need to wear both sun block and insect protection at the same time, apply the sun block first. Your skin will be protected from the sun and it will also be a nice base for the insect repellent to bond to.

  • Sun Protection
When applying sun block, use more than you think you need on all exposed body parts. Apply sun block at least 20 minutes prior to going out in the sun.

  The BEST Combo Product
By Kristen W., TX in August, 2010

•   Tried this on a recommendation of friend who travels often to Central America. Now, I always keep a bottle of this under my sink and another in my suitcase. This product works very well for us and our guests. I'm a redhead with skin the color of notebook paper. My husband is a favorite target of any mosquito, chigger, etc. in a three-mile radius. I do use a different sunscreen on my face - not because the Sawyer's has caused a problem - only due to very sensitive, break out prone skin.

  Pleasant scent and feel!
By Merrill O., IL in May, 2010

•   I was quite surprised by the pleasant scent of this insect repellent/ sunblock...and loved that it did not feel greasy at all on my skin. In fact, it actually made my skin feel quite soft after using. I also liked the fact that it combined sunblock and insect repellent...one less bottle to carry when traveling!! I do have to admit...I was traveling during the winter in Africa, so the mosquito population was low...but we were not bothered by mosquitoes at all!!

  Sun Block
By Anonymous in April, 2010

•   This product is great for the beach when there is a "land breeze" which brings lots of insects. Since Sun Block has duel purposes, it's wonderful for the beach on these "land breeze" days.

  Impressive!
By Christi N., MI in March, 2010

•   I was a bit hesitant about ordering this since I usually use a 50 block sunscreen (am fair with red hair) and was just sure it wouldn't be effective without DEET. I was wrong - worked like a charm for the week and a half I was in Central America!

•   I bought this to take on the Inca Trail and liked the idea of minimizing bottles. It worked very well on both counts--no sunburn, and only a couple of bites where I missed application (like hands). No unpleasant odor or sticky sensation.

Sawyer Sunblock and Mosquito Repellant VERY Effective in TX
By Lisa M., TX in August, 2009

•   Mosquitos are a huge concern here; one of my neighbors died of West Nile virus. DEET repellants have been totally ineffective. Sawyer's actually works well to keep them off us, AND it has a pleasant herbal type smell! As a fairskinned redhead, I also appreciate its effectiveness as a sunblock! It doesn't sweat off when I do yard work. We use it every morning as part of getting dressed!
