WONDERFUL - the sense of security about luggage contents is back. Originally very skeptical about using locks and getting the TSA folk riled up, but they like them and they are SO easy to use and set up. WONDERFUL addition to any traveler.

I fly exclusively Southwest Airlines and have had no problems using the Searchalert Lock. It has only been opened once in 6 trips. The window was red. Nothing was missing. I was glad to have the lock.
I've used these locks for some time, and they have indicated properly when the TSA has accessed a bag - once, when there was no required notice left in my bag and an item was pilfered. I consider these locks to be a reasonable deterrent, and they keep me informed as to the security of my luggage.
I love these locks! I know instantly when I get my bag off the baggage carousel if it was inspected by TSA because the lock turns red. If my bag was searched, I make sure to go through my bag before I leave the airport to make sure nothing was missing. Once you leave the airport, it's a lot more difficult to file a report with the airline about missing items. I also use the locks to keep my suitcase secure in my hotel room when I'm traveling. I know instantly if someone went through my bag while I was out. These are great locks!
I had used one of these locks for a number of trips with no problems. IT was opened on 3 occasions and the red indicator was on.. TSA slip inside. Then last trip it was missing, no TSA slip. I also lost another TSA lock (not this model)early in TSA lock program and assummed it broke or TSA forgot to replace. This time I'm filing a claim with TSA.
These are great locks and I'm so glad to be able to secure my bags now. Very durable too -- I travel a lot and my bags get beat up often.
This lock worked just as advertised. The TSA opened it with their key, as revealed by the tell-tale turning red, and the fact that an expensive radio had been stolen from the bag
I have no clue WHY everyone is whining about these locks. I've had two silver ones forever, and on the few occasions the TSA opened my locks, the lock was red, the paperwork was inserted into my bag(s) and the locks were replaced and relocked. They were never bent, never mangled, never missing. I travel two or three times on business every month, and my suitcases wear out before my locks ever would. And regarding the people with stolen expensive items in their checked bags: CARRY THEM ON. Dummies.
I have 8 of these locks and have used them on trips to Europe and the carribean with no problems. No broken locks it appears to me that they dont bother the bags with the locks on them. I have also not had any property missing.
Recently traveled to the Baltic States no trouble with locks. However the hasp on one was badly bent and almost unusable. I found this to be a big minus.
I bought two of these locks. I was very excited about the idea of knowing if TSA was opening my bags. I was using them on my Pelican hard case. The first one broke on my first trip and the second one broke on my second trip. The fact that I was using them on my hard case may have had something to do with this (they were pretty exposed), but know that they are definitely not indestructable.
Returned home to find one lock completely missing. Am sure it didn't break, as it was on a soft bag. Wonder if TSA just kept it.
TSA broke my lock, after I had stood by as my luggage was scanned. Don't know why they didn't use their tool to open it
TSA has broken or cut these locks off my bags on several occasions. They claim that the agents will not do this but I have the statements that are put in the bag when they open it. TSA also strongly recommends that you lock your bags.
I purchased 4 of these locks for 2 bags, destination Europe. Two broke outbound, one on return. The shafts on the broken locks were all sprung and bent at 45 degree angles to the body of the lock. All 4 were on soft luggage.
I love the locks. Apparently, so does TSA agents. Again, TSA kept one of my locks. The bag had two locks. The one left on showed me that TSA had been in the bag. This is the second time that they have only replaced one lock. Bah humbug.
I have purchased several of these locks, I believe six or eight. Only once have i arrived at my air destination with a lock still on my bag. I have even written to TSA complaining about this and suggested that they reimburse me for lost locks. On luck, they blame the baggage handlers.
We used these locks on a recent trip to Las Vegas. One piece of luggage arrived without the lock. We assume it was broken and discarded. We still like the idea of knowing that the luggage is locked and if it has been opened.
Bought 2 of these locks and used them both on a recent trip. One was twisted and broken when I got my bag. The other worked fine. They are not indestructible!
TWO OF MY LOCK HAS DISAPPEARED OFF MY LUGGAGE. THEY MUST OPEN IT A FORGET TO PUT IT BACK ON- NOT MUCH HELP WHEN TRYING TO SECURE A SUITCASE
I purchased these locks, not the combination lock but the key lock, the package says airports can open these locks using a special code. So its okay to lock your cases now. Guess what? WRONG! After purchasing these locks I emailed the company just to check because we were leaving for Italy. In an email back apparently the only airports that can open these locks (using the special codes) are U.S. airports only. What a surprise. I of course returned the locks and sent the company an email telling them that their packaging label is misleading.

If TSA breaks the lock, you're lucky. They will break the zipper pull instead to remove the lock. Then your bag is ruined.
