We combined our expertise with your feedback to create the best multi-pocket convertible jacket/vest you've ever owned. Magellan's design. When it comes to a functional, easy-packing travel jacket that's as stylish as it is practical, it's all in the details. We labored over every aspect of our Voyager Convertible Jacket to get each feature just right. For starters, we designed our women's jacket separately from the men's version for better fit, shaping and style. Then, with your input, we constructed 12 convenient pockets (that you'll actually use!), and positioned them for easy access and a bulk-free silhouette. Perfect for all your travel activities, the Voyager carries your iPad®, phone, guidebook, maps, compact camera, water, umbrella, and a multitude of other necessities, completely hands-free. Invisible zippered side seam gussets expand for a comfortable fit over a sweater or to accommodate fully loaded pockets, and when the day warms up, you can zip off the sleeves, stash them in a pocket, and wear the jacket as a vest. At the airport, it's also a stylish solution to carry-on restrictions. Just load up the pockets and send it through X-ray screening - it's like having an extra carry-on bag! Made of water-resistant 100% polyester twill with a two-way zipper and storm flap, adjustable snap-tab cuffs, and polyester. Machine washable.

  Invisible iPad Pocket
By Tammy C., CA in May, 2012

•   I received my jacket some time back, and discovered it had no pocket big enough to hold the iPad. I had a longer zipper (couldn't quite match the color) put into the largest pocket so the iPad would at least fit vertically, sticking out 2 inches from the top. Then I wrote a review panning the product for not being as advertised. Only after all of this did I discover the real iPad pocket. It is so well concealed in a vertical seam that it is invisible! Grrrrr!

  No room for iPad!
By Tammy C., CA in May, 2012

•   Yes, all the pockets are great, the fabric is nice, and it's comfortable and stylish. BUT - I chose this jacket because it was specifically advertised to carry the iPad in one of the pockets. No way. The largest pocket wasn't anywhere near wide enough even to fit the iPad in vertically. I took the jacket to a tailor to put in the widest zipper that would fit (couldn't quite match the color). Even now, the iPad sticks almost 2 inches out of the pocket. No way to secure it. Big disappointment.

Only one drawback - and a minor one, at that
By Lois G., NJ in March, 2012

•   Paying for baggage galls me, just like everyone else. We recently flew to Florida on an unnamed airline that even charges for carry-ons, unless they can fit under the seat. There was no way I was paying them one dime extra, so we crammed everything into one under-the-seat bag for each of us. This jacket came in quite handy, especially for my Kindle and travel documents.

We traveled from NJ to FLA and it was a bit nippy when we left, as well as a little chilly when we got there, so this became my trip jacket: plane & destination. It's an attractive jacket and is a style (and quality) that will last for years and years.

The only down side was the day it warmed up and I carried it. The outside of the jacket, which is waterproof, was a little warm against the skin on my arms. Not really much of a thumbs down, and that's the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

  Absolutely fantastic, except...
By Andrea S., TN in February, 2012

•   I got this jacket 2 days before a 7-week travel adventure across the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. The fit is excellent, the pockets are awesome, and it looks great. It folds up to next to nothing.

PROS:
• Sooooo many pockets! It really saved me on my travels...it was literally an extra carry-on with all the stuff I had it, and no one said anything in the airport or on the plane
• Very comfortable and stylish...it is my go-to jacket back home as well
• Zip-off sleeves was my first criteria for my travel jacket for versatility, and these work well; I took them off often
• Incredibly lightweight, yet warm; I was amazed at how well this jacket performed
• Easy to use for "layering"

CONS:
• Like another user, my front zipper never has worked properly; it's a pain to get going and I haven't ever been able to line it up right; it does zip, though, and stays together

SUGGESTIONS:
• Put elastic cuffs on sleeves for better fit
• Put on roll-away hood

  Voyager Jacket
By Mary M., TN in February, 2012

•   I don't feel I can rate this item since I returned it because it was too small. Personally, I would like it if there was a little more room. It didn't leave room in it for sweaters, etc. The jacket seemed like one I would want to buy again, however, it is difficult to know the sizes. I bought, what I thought was the right size, but as stated above, there was no room for anything to layer with it.

Great Pick for people on the go
By Jo M., CA in January, 2012

•   I'm pleased that all the inside pockets do not add bulk to the jacket. it is lightweight, but seems to be warm enough in moderately cold weather...for So. Calif. Definitely not a winter jacket though. The sleeves zip off easily and the vest is actually quite attractive. I'm 5' tall and thought it would be overwhelming on me, but it isn't. PLEASE make a hood for this jacket Magellan! Have it attach with buttons so those of us who already have the jacket only need to sew on buttons to have the advantage of a hood for rainy days. A travel jacket without a removable hood? Really?

  Great Travel Jacket
By Barbara M., TX in December, 2011

•   My daughter specifically requested this item for Christmas. I ordered it exactly (size, color) that she wanted. She loved it. I gave it to her before Christmas on her holiday visit and she's been wearing it ever since. It's a great jacket with all the pockets, removable sleeves, etc.

  Great coat
By Alison W., FL in December, 2011

•   Bought this coat for a winter trip to the UK, wanted something that was layerable - wear an thinsulate vest beneath when cold. Have now been wearing for three weeks constantly, one more week to go. Love the pockets for putting my wallet in one, cell phone in other, gloves and camera in another, lip balm somewhere else. Funny time on train when my phone rang but I couldn't remember which pocket it was in.

One night on the walk home from train I loaded my pockets with all my important stuff from my purse including my IPad - yes pocket fits IPad but you look a bit weird if you zip up because you have this flat rectangle shape just below your chest. But keeping jacket unzipped it looked ok. You may want to go up a size if you want to really stuff your pockets otherwise you will look lumpy. Hand pockets are in perfect position to keep you warm. Never though I would take the sleeves off, but I did during a hike, zippers worked really well.

Could use a hood but haven't missed it, the cord for the waist is really long, unnecessarily so, I kept getting it caught on things, tucked it in one of the pockets. Coat does not breath well, unfortunately, after hike it is soaking wet inside, but dries fairly quickly.

I am sure I will wear it when the weather is cold in Florida as well and will take it to San Francisco is February. All around a good purchase.

Great concept but with one major issue.
By Patricia M., TX in December, 2011

•   I just received this jacket in the mail for an upcoming trip, and it is a great concept. However, there is a major flaw with the interior pocket for the iPad. When you sit down, because the pocket doesn't go to the bottom of the jacket, the iPad extends from about the waist up. Because of women's anatomy, this is a very uncomfortable position. If I wanted to remove the iPad every time I sat down, it would be fine, but I don't! It would be great for those who are interested in safeguarding money, passport, etc., but if you are buying it for your iPad, it doesn't work so well. I agree with those who suggested that the addition of a hood would be a plus. Unfortunately I am going to return it because of the iPad issue.

Underwhelming and Disappointing Style, Good Color
By Kimberly C., IN in December, 2011

•   The blue was lovely so I was hoping the jacket would work. Unfortunately, the material was stiff and the cut formless. The overall look was "frumpy" on my smaller frame. It had to go back. Too bad it was not more like the Adventure and Travel Jacket.

  Some dislikes but love pockets
By Suzan A., AZ in November, 2011

•   I love nearly all of the pockets on this jacket since all of them are large enough to be useful. However, the handwarmer pockets are set too low to use plus I just never find these pockets useful since my hands are usually full of camera, purse, notebook, etc. so I could well do without them. My main problem with this jacket is that it is very tight across the shoulders in the back even when I am wearing only a thin cotton tee shirt so I am afraid that it is going to be rather uncomfortably tight when I am wearing a sweater. Another big problem is that none of the zippers on the jacket work very well at all. I will probably just leave the side zippers unzipped since they were so hard to get unzipped the first time. I also really hate to have a front zipper closure and really wish that Magellan's would just use snaps or buttons which would be so much easier and quicker to use. As others have mentioned, a zip-out hood built into the collar would have been nice and also one or two upper front outside pockets with velcro closure. My other big dislike is that Magellan's puts drawstrings at the waist of virtually every travel jacket they sell. I have never found any use for these drawstrings and always cut them off as soon as I get the jacket. That does not look the best though since you can tell from the outside of the jacket that there was a drawstring so this sort of detracts from the appearance. However, I intend to keep this jacket due to all of the good pockets and to the fact that it should be well-suited for Ireland's (my next destination) rainy and cooler climate thanks to the jacket's water resistance and 100% polyester content.

  Love It
By Mary B., FL in October, 2011

•   I was delightfully surprised on light this jacket felt on. The option to make it form fitting at the waistline was a definite plus. I love the fact that the sleeves zip off for those warmer days. We're planning a trip to Europe and I really didn't want to carry a purse and now I don't have to. There are ample amount of pockets inside and out.

This is a travel dream come true jacket!
By Kathleen C., FL in October, 2011

•   I travel extensively and want everything safe and close at hand...this jacket is a travel dream come true...Thank you!

Only suggestion make a hood that is also detatchable!

  Loved the jacket
By Rosemary B., SC in October, 2011

•   Lite weight and easy to wear. Wished it would have had a hood, and that some of the pockets would have been bigger. Look forward to wearing it in Europe this month. Happy with the purchase and fit. I'm 5' 2" and weigh 135 lbs. The medium is a perfect fit. Like that you can make the wrists fit tighter if you like.

  Mixed Feelings
By Christine D., MD in October, 2011

•   The jacket was very comfortable; the option of removing sleeves came in handy while daytripping in Italy. There are enough pockets to hold desired items thereby eliminating need to carry purse/backpack; however, the main zipper was a royal pain to use. I had a difficult time to zip it; I had to make several attempts to get the nib to align in the socket to engage it properly.

  Wonderful for airplane travel
By Lisa M., FL in September, 2011

•   Purchased this jacket for a recent trip across country. I loaded it up for the plane flights and it acted as a 3rd carry-on, like a purse, along with my backpack and roll aboard. Loved having the ability to carry a bit more on, and found that I could unzip the sleeves while still wearing the jacket, if I got a bit warm on the plane. It also came in right handy in Seattle and San Diego when the weather was a bit cool in the morning and evening. Exceeded my expectations. I agree with the other two reviewers, though... Would be great with a zip on/zip off hood.

  Love it!
By Tamra F., OH in September, 2011

•   I had previously purchased a different travel jacket with a lot of pockets. While this one does not have as many pockets, I prefer the fabric - shinier, dressier, and easier to keep clean. The jacket fit well and will become my go to travel jacket. I just wish it came in other colors.

All around comfort coat for travel
By Ginger S., MI in September, 2011

•   Perfect for travel with all the pockets and adjustable for cooler or warmer weather.

  Great in the city
By Gay G., IL in September, 2011

•   I love ALL the inside pockets. I feel safe in the city. Miss a hood. It doesn't breath well, so can get damp on the inside.

  Excellent Travel Jacket
By Diane B., AB in August, 2011

•   I am so happy with this jacket. It exceeded my expectations. Fits to size, looks feminine, and I love all the pockets! The dual zipper is a great idea. Because it doesn't come with a hood, I just placed a small plastic rain bonnet in one of the pockets. I hope they come out with more colors in the Spring. You may want to check online for a coupon before purchase.

  Everything but a hoody
By Lois L., IL in August, 2011

•   This is fabulous, but is it possible to put a 'parka'-type hood that could be unzipped from the collar? I love all the pockets, the light-weight, the fact that you can roll the sleeves up and put them in your pockets - enough pockets you don't need to carry anything else, but in a downpour or stuck on a boat cruise, it would be nice to be able to slide out a hood to cover the head.
