It's not supposed to get sudsy!
By Jamie T., CA
in August, 2010
Several reviews have said they need many many sheets to make sudsy water. I think these are intentionally designed to not be sudsy thus making rinsing that much easier. For a sink-full of water and a pair of socks, underwear and an undershirt I will use 2, maybe 3 sheets at most. The water is dirty when I'm done, the clothes look clean, and they don't smell. What else can you ask for from sink-laundry?

I used these for my 3 week Europe trip. I agree they don't suds up a lot but that's why they're so good...4-5 sheets each wash cleaned well and rinsed easily. Actually got out stains and has fresh scent. Will buy next year but will get extra packs.

These soap sheets are extremely nifty, and handy when traveling (no pesky liquids in airline travel!). However, the advised "use one or two sheets" grossly understates things. I found I had to use at least ten to get a small basin soapy. So buy more than you think, since you will use many per wash. That being said, this is a great product for traveling light, since you can wash out your clothes in a sink at night.

We took these to Europe on a three week vacation. They didn't suds up very much and I was never sure exactly how many of the sheets to use, but they seemed to work and I was very glad to have them. Again, very packable and worth having along.

Although these don't suds up much even in soft water, they do seem to get socks, underwear, and the occasional shirt clean, and that's exactly what I bought them for. They are so much easier and safer than carrying liquid or powder detergents and I would recommend them for a trip when you want to travel light and do your own laundry in a hotel sink.

Good for Laundry & Easy to Pack
By Marie N., AZ
in July, 2010
These laundry soap sheet do not produce suds. I use 2 or 3 in a sinkful of water. Since there are no suds it's easy to rinse clothing after it's been washed. It's important to handle these soap sheets only with dry hands. They are light, small and easy to pack.

The best thing about these sheets is that you don't have to take powder or liquid in your suitcase. They take up no room at all. But be prepared to use several at a time if you want to get your clothes clean.

The jury's still out

These can't be beaten for convenience -- light weight and compact. Perfect fo those of us who travel with ONLY carry on, no matter how long the trip. But, it's not clear how much cleaning these sheets can do. They generate NO suds, which makes rinsing easy but doesn't match our expectations of soap. Most of my washing is probably "rinse to freshen" not serious dirt, so I was happy with the result. The question remains -- would I have been equally happy with just water.

This is so smart; it's all dry. No nasty spills in your bag. If the water where you're traveling is hard, you may need 2-3 sheets, but there are enough in this little case for a month of travel. I washed everyday, and came home with plenty to pack next trip.

Great idea but not a great product
By Erika W., TX

I thought they would be be good to use in the sink to wash out clothes in the sink in Europe. I read previous reviews and they mentioned that the soap sheets did not provide adequate suds. I agree also. You have to use at least 3 sheets. You have to use a dry hand to get the sheets out of the case. That is nearly impossible when you are washing clothes. Woolite and Tide packets work much better if you are able to carry on liquids. If not, these work in a pinch, but not my favorite.

We rented an apartment abroad with an apt-size washer, but it was difficult to find unscented soap. I used four or five sheets and it worked like magic! I had ordered two sets (four packs) and that was more than enough for three weeks. Light, TSA friendly and worked great!

One to two sheets worked in a sink in a motel to do quick laundry. About 5 are needed in a washing machine for a small load. They were effective and easy to carry.

I was very excited to see this item for sale. I don't mind washing socks and undies to save space. In the past I've taken powdered soap and wanted to try this. The sheets didn't do a sink as stated, but only washed one item. I had to use 2 or more sheets to clean a swim suit and trunks.

The best things about this product are that it takes up less room than normal laundry soap and won't spill in your suitcase. The not-so-good is that it took some experimentation before I figured out how many sheets to use in a sinkful of water. Instructions would have been helpful.

These are great. I am not sure how anyone could mistake the item description, it states 50 laundry washes and that it is for sink use, certainly does not imply 50 loads of laundry. One sheet easily washes out a pair of socks or undies or shirt, etc. These are for quick washes in the sink to dry overnight, not a load of jeans. The fact that there are few suds is good, less to rinse and less to stay in the fabric to irritate the body. Great product.

I used these when I was away before and plan to use them again. They are small and convenient and also have a wonderful light smell. The one problem is that I feel that I need to use more than one sheet at a time because one doesn't seem to be enough.

I bought these a few months ago and used them on a recent trip. They don't suds a lot and I like to use two, but I felt my clothing was cleaned sufficiently. I'd given one of the two in the pack to my sister so figured I would reorder. Now I'm giving one of this set to a friend along with some mesh cubes for her birthday. They can be a great addition to another travel item as a gift.

...and I'll be buying more. What a handy thing to have on a trip! I'm trying to learn to pack less and make the most of my trip without worrying about dragging stuff around. On my last trip, I experimented with these and found them to work well. They don't suds much and lot and I felt better using two for a pair of pants instead of one, but I use a lot of "green" products like dishwash liquid that also doesn't suds much but that I feel is working. You get two packs with an order.

Convenient

in October, 2009
I found them to be very compact and especially convenient when I was doing a small amount of hand laundry. One sheet in a basin one-quarter full washes underwear and a pair of socks very well. If you fill the basin, you will need two or three sheets.

Good product

Very handy for people who travel light and do hand laundry on trips. A previous poster was disappointed that it could not be used for machine laundry; however, the online description clearly states that it is intended for hand laundry in the sink. It does not suds up as much as I expected, but I consider this a plus, since it is more difficult to rinse out a very sudsy wash. One sheet cleans a few items; a larger load requires more. Has very light, unobtrusive scent.

Not Good

This is the only Magellan's product I've ever been disappointed in. I tried these on a long trip. It took all my soap sheets to make ONE bath sink full of suds! For my next trip I will pour liquid laundry detergent into my own 3 ounce plastic travel bottle and take it instead.

These worked out great for eco-travel and Third World countries! The different languages and cultures sometimes present difficulties getting the right products or services. We prefer to "carry on" everything if at all possible, and these make it easy to pack lighter and reuse clothing on longer trips.

Easy to carry...

...but not so easy to use. I had a hard time getting them to dissolve properly. Good for washing out something light, a pair of socks for instance. But when I tried to rinse out something more substantial, like a blouse, even with adding more soap, I wasn't as satisfied. Keep it to one or two very small items.

Just back from 27 days in Bhutan and India ... with lots of restrictions on baggage weight .... which means doing more laundry ! I thought these worked just great. I also used just 2 per sinkful of water and agree about being careful not to get pack wet.

Excellent for Hand washing cloths

I used these soap sheets for socks, undies and t-shirts in the Ukraine June 2008. I was away for 17 days. I took only a carry on, so washing every day was a necessity. These soap sheets worked perfectly for me. I lathered 2 sheets up in my hand then washed the cloths in a sink of warm water. The soap rinsed out very well. I am going to Uganda Jan 2009, and these soap sheets are going with me too. This trip will involve much more dirty activities, and I am certain my cloths will come clean.

For years I've taken along little homemade jars or packets of soap powder on trips. These sheets are so much easier, smaller, and lighter. And they work! I even like the fact that the packet is brightly colored, so even though it's small, it doesn't get lost in the luggage.

My husband, the Laundry Meister
By Sherry B., CA

Believe it or not, my husband loves to do laundry. He's a master at finding launderettes, but I was never comfortable packing detergent in our suitcase. These laundry soap sheets are a perfect solution -- even for me, the one who washes things in the hotel sink or bathtub at night.

I did not find these to be particularly useful. I ended up using a bar of fragrant soap which seemed to do just as well. I used 4 sheets per quart (estimated) of water which didn't make the water as soapy as using the bar soap.

My husband and I travel a lot on his Harley motorcycle and can only bring a few clothes. With 45,000 miles on the bike from cross country trips, imagine my excitment when I found these soap sheets. The catalog description implies you can do a whole load of laundry using one or two sheets, but when I got the product, the info included clearly says it is for handwashing in the hotel sink. Tried in the washer, they don't work! Won't buy again that's for sure.

I did not care for this product. I used it to launder my clothes (small piles) and the product did not clean nor did it lather up as advertised. I doubt very much that it could do "50 loads of laundry". I would not buy this product again.

I was not impressed with the laundry soap sheets. They do not generate enough suds, even when a number of sheets are used. Having said that, Magellan's is THE BEST when it comes to marketing unusual, quality travel items. I've been a client for many years and have been very satisfied with the items I've purchased.
By Pammie S., FL

I used these on a recent 3-wk trip; took carry-on luggage only & hand-washed clothes in sink. Prior comment re: not suds-ing is true but that's good - more suds=more rinsing=more work! I needed 2-5 sheets to wash a sink full of clothes. Worked pretty well in cool water too. Would definitely use again. Make sure you take sheets out of pkg BEFORE you get hands wet or you won't be able to separate the sheets.

This product is very misrepresented. These sheets are enough soap for a sink according to the package. Saying 50 LOADS is an overexaggeration.
