  • Cell Phone Compatibility
Check with your cellular phone service provider to see if your phone and contract allow foreign use.

  • Power in the Air
When traveling with your laptop, check with the airline to see if they offer seat outlets on your flight. If so, you can purchase an EmPower adaptor that will allow you to plug your laptop into the plane's power rather than running on your laptop battery.

  Great gadget except.......
By Nancy G C., SC in May, 2010

•   Make sure the attachments fit your phone, etc. I thought one would fit my cell phone but did not try it and when I tried to use it in Israel it did not fit. However, a friend whose camera's battery was nearly dead thought it was wonderful. I will order the correct attachment!

•   This really works. Just be sure and check out whether all the attachments fit your particular item. I did not and the one I was sure would fit my cell phone did not. It did get the camera recharged however.

  Essential for iPhone
By Mary-Jo W., CT in May, 2010

•   I just got my new iPhone and am on a learning curve so I use up lots of battery. However I think even an old iPhone pro needs a Power Monkey back-up as the battery life is short in these new gadgets. I was recently stranded on a train with a low battery in my iPhone and a fully charged Power Monkey and PM saved the day. The device is small and very useful. MJW

•   The power monkey works great for keeping your IPOD going during long trips. The only issue was getting a phone connector.

•   Charged the I pod and the Blackberry with no fuss! Great idea and product.

  Usefulness
By Thomas U., TX in May, 2009

•   Works great. Has enough juice to recharge an iphone. Liked so much I bought another one for my wife.

Hoped this would reduce my luggage volume but...

•   Despite a variety of adapters, I found that I still needed to pack several additional chargers for a trip abroad -- none fit my Kindle, Nintendo, or camera. So it basically only works with my Samsung phone, iPod and Blackberry. The monkey itself doesn't hold that much juice -- about 2 charges and it needs to be plugged in, but you can charge a device while the monkey is plugged in. Best news: it's pretty fast.

•   i havent needed to use this yet but a friend visiting was thrilled to be able to power up his "dead" blackberry in a very short time

By Susan H., NM in October, 2008
•   The connections that were included did not work with my phone or I-Pod and I wrote to the company that has replaced the connectors for the things that I have. One needs to order this product several weeks before you need it to make sure one has the right connectors. It was an disappointment not to have the right thing for my trip. With a 14 hour plane flight, 2 2hour flights, I was uneasy about using my I-pod for that long. It would have been nice to have the power monkey to fall back on.

•   Power Monkey performed beyond par in my recent trip to Europe. Bought it primarily to power up my iPod on the plane ride and out of the country trips. Very easy to use and lots of different adapters to use with all electronic gadget one might own. Worth every penny. Thanks.

•   first time I used it on my psp, it worked, next time I used it, it turned off as soon as I plugged into the psp. And the battery was full, 3 bars, I made sure.
In conclusion, after 1 use it broke... Brilliant

•   Brought this handy gadget to Europe this summer. It worked double time to charge my kids' ipods, itouch, and cell phones. It's small enough that I can actually put it in my purse to bring anywhere I go, now that we're back home.

•   I had a tip break after three uses as well, but it was the DC 2.0 (Nokia Mini). I'm thinking it's not just the Blackberry tips that disintegrate.

BTW, I see that Magellans has added a toll-free number from which to order new tips. The Power Traveller web site lets you order them separately as well. The tips are inexpensive, but the shipping costs are nasty if the item has to cross an ocean to get to you (as it does for me).

•   Just what they all said. The B'berry connector broke on the 2d or 3d use.

•   It came with an impressive selection of adapters; unfortunately, none match my Samsung cell phone.

By Lois T., AL
•   Power Monkeys do not have a connection for LG phones. This renders my Power Monkey to only my IPod. There seems to be no way to find if a connection is available.

•   Agree with other posters...great idea but the small usb for my blackberry disintegrated on the 3rd or 4th use. If replacement pieces aren't available this is not a worthwhile purchase.

•   I purchased this for a recent trip and need additional attachments. You can find the additional attachments you need at company called powertraveller. Once you click on this link, select power monkey and then monkey nuts...this is a list of all the adapters that are available for the power monkey. They are shipped from the UK.

•   I bought one several months ago and discovered that my devices do not have connections in the kit. Magellan's was prompt at supplying me the vendor info so I could order them; however I have been unable to do so. So it just sits unused, very frustrating! Can't use on GPS, cell phone, and I forget what all else I tried. None are weird brands.

•   Power Monkey is a great size and the charge lasts. It did great for my ipod for a very long flight, but the blackberry device fell apart at about the third use - there is a manufacturing problem with this piece. Can a replacement part be purchased separately?

By Anonymous
•   The power monkey operated fine for my IPOD, but the first time I plugged it into my blackberry, the attachment fell apart. Seems like a great idea, but not very well made.
