The SteriPen Freedom uses shortwave germicidal UV light to disinfect water. The range of UV light disrupts the DNA of microbes in seconds. Without intact DNA, microbes cannot reproduce and make you sick. It destroys over 99.9% of bacteria, viruses and protozoa (giardia & cryptosporidium).
