Description
Now you can SIT while you're waiting in line or listening to the tour guide. The Sport Seat holds up to 250 pounds, but weighs just 28 ounces. Its construction (extra-strength anodized aluminum with stainless steel fittings) is so heavy-duty that the manufacturer guarantees it will hold a 250-pound person. We've tested several of these seat canes, and this has the best construction, the most stability and is the lightest of them all. (34" tall when folded as a cane. Seat is 21" tall.)

Caution: Sit facing the handle for maximum safety

Terrible
By Anne, NY in August, 2013

I took this seat with me on a two week tour to Europe. I tested it at home and it seemed fine but as soon as we landed and I tried to use it the tripod was a disaster. The legs were so flimsy that they would splay out to one side or another. The seat was unstable and a bit frightening. Even my young son couldn't sit on it without the seat tipping over. We threw it away and I would never buy another one.

Not great for travel
By luanne, la quinta, CA in January, 2013

Unfortunately, there is no way to make the product smaller so that it fits in a suitcase for travel. It is too big for the average suitcase. It should be able to be made shorter so it will fit. So if you don't plan to carry it through the airport, don't buy it.

Plus & Minus
By Nancy Pigford, Philadelphia, PA in November, 2012

Took sport seat on tour/cruise in Europe for use while recovering from back injury. It worked very well as a walking cane and as a temporary seat. On the negative side, the handle was not big or far enough from the stem to hang over my arm while taking photos or while shopping. Moreover, the cane could not be propped against a flat surface without it falling. It could only be propped in a corner.

Generally very useful
By Kenneth R., Middletown, CT in September, 2012

I get intense back pain if I stand or walk for more than a few minutes. I use this cane/chair on most traveling I do and it has been invaluable. Although I weigh less than 230 lbs, one sample I had bent when I sat on it. It was promptly replaced. The biggest criticism is that there is no carrying method built into it. I purchased an adjustable 2" web that I string through the seat so I can throw it over my shoulder when I want my hands free briefly to, for instance, use a camera. At 6"1" I was able to have it customized to add about 2" to the height. The seat could be slightly bigger but that is not a big problem. I cannot and would not travel without it.

Ease your back pain
By Lorene N., San Francisco, CA in August, 2012

I have been using this cane/seat for many years and don't go shopping without it. I cannot stand long because of back pain and it helps so much to be able to sit down. I am also very obese and it has held me up for many years. People are always asking me where I got it. I have several and highly recommend it.
