not so great
By Paul Gomory, San Francisco, CA in May, 2013 -
Looks fine in the catalog/online photo. It was lighter in weight than I had imagined, but OK. I bought it for travel - to wear on airplane in lieu of a blazer or sport jacket so I have pockets without crumpling a sport jacket on intercontinental flights. Just returned yesterday from three weeks in France with my new jacket. 1) a locker loop would be great - to hang my (heavy with stuff in pockets) jacket on a an airplane or bathroom hook, for example. 2) the inner breast pocket (and most of the others) is lined with a funny mesh, not fabric. Result -- try putting some tri-folded 8x11 papers into that breast pocket. Try putting ANYthing with sharp corners or edges like keys, eyeglasses, an envelope, boarding pass.... into those pockets. Objects get hung up on the lining on the way in - and inevitably catch in the lining as you pull them out -- I pulled out my reading glasses and they came out with several inches of torn threads attached. Same thing with keys. Had zipper issues also as per the review from "Noel M." I'd return it, but I've used it now and also had the sleeves shortened to fit me.

Returned item

The concept for this item was very interesting, but not carried out well. The feel was not good, in my case the sleeves were very long. I returned the item.

Outstanding quality...Great looking
By Ronald C., Allentown, PA in April, 2012 -
Bought the olive color, then as soon as I received it bought the black. Perfect fit, comfortable and the best feature is the pockets. When I travel, I need lots of pockets. Most jackets with lots of pockets are bulky and unattractive. This jacket is the best for travel, and it looks good.

Dissapointed
By Noel M., Seattle, WA in April, 2012 -
I bought the jacket the moment I got the email telling me about it. I was leaving for two weeks in Paris in just a few days so I paid for expedited freight. The weather in Paris was the best i have ever seen so I felt pretty smart to have bought and brought a lightweight jacket. I started using it the first day. And on the first day problems commenced. The breast pocket zipper kept getting hung up in full closed mode. I thought a few times that I was going to have to break it to get it open. I soon adopted the "leaveit open all the time" mode. That, of course defeats its major function as an anti pick pocket defense. The zipper porblem was compounded by the fact that the tang got cokeyed and I couldn't straighten it - agin without, probably, breaking it.The next problem was that the mesh lining on the right side got almost worn through. The jacket was very loose fitting - I bought a large - and the weather was so warm that I had it zipped only a little to close the jacket at the bottom. I have no idea what caused that excessive wear in three days use. Finally, the overall material of the jacket had begun to pill by the fourth day. Luckily I had brought my 14 year old Facinable - heavier - Paris travel jacket. It looks still nearly new and the breast pocket zipper functions flawlwssly. I put the Magellans product away and returned it for refund the day I returned from Paris. This was the first dissatisfaction I have ever had with Magellans or its products.
