Magellan's Cafe Coat

To say that I was disappointed with this coat would be a gross understatement. I waited six week for this coat to arrive from back ordering it. It had a very strong chemical smell. Now regarding the sizing, I am 5'2", I ordered a medium. It was
Enormous on me. The sleeves were way past my fingers.
I was planing on taking this to France but had to purchase a coat locally at the last minute because of this sizing issue. Extremely stressful!
Trying to get help returning this coast was a awful
I had such high hopes for this coat and it was such a let down.
I am truly sorry but it not sized for someone petite at all!

Lightweight and soft fabric, the jacket looks great on. Perfect for most seasons of the year, water rolls right off! It's going to Europe with me this spring! :)

I ordered my usual size in coats. This was too large in the shoulders and sleeves, but too narrow in the hips. It is cut very straight. I sent it back. I wish it were somewhat more A-line shaped.

The styling and color of this jacket are great. It runs big, but I adjusted the sleeve buttons and it will be fine. However, I just finished spending 1/2 hour at the ironing board trying to get the wrinkles out of this fabric. This fabric is a poor choice for what would otherwise be a perfect travel jacket. And a button at the waist would be another improvement.

I ordered an XL which is my normal size and it fit OK, but as other writers have noted, the sleeves were too long. I was able to move the buttons on the sleeves, thankfully, to make them fit. Otherwise I like it a lot. It has everything I wanted. It's very lightweight and flexible. Wrinkles fall right out. Would recommend as a between seasons jacket.

Light weight but warm enough for spring and fall. It runs a little large, but that just makes more for a sweater to extend the usefulness of the coat. Lots of pockets make it great for travel. It's exactly what I wanted!

I really wanted to get this jacket. The shape, fabric and features look great but why don't they offer a 2-way zipper?! Blast!

Perfect item for travel and very satisfied. Plan to order more travel items.

Having read the reviews for this jacket I decide to buy it and must admit to being disappointed with it or maybe I'm just picky. I did not expect that I would have to have to trim numerous threads before wearing it. Maybe I was just unlucky and got a "lemon". I'm wondering what will happen when I wash it!

The cafe coat is great. Everything about it is outstanding.

I have a blue museum jacket which is an earlier version of this jacket. I have worn it a lot and it has stood up well to everything I have put it through and still looks good. Unfortunately, the grey jacket I ordered in medium is much too big for me and they are sold out of the small! None of the other colors that are available will suit so I guess I'll have to continue to use the old jacket until the next model is out. I will for sure order the next model in small!

I returned the coat because the sleeves were too long and I didn't want the expense of alteration. The color was good and I like the coat except for the sleeve length.

I ordered a medium per the sizing chart and the coat is HUGE all over on me. I could carry a 2 liter bottle of soda inside and still zip it easily. The fabric is softer more flexible than expected from the photo; but I think that is a positive. Also, the Savannah color is a pleasant, slightly olive khaki color rather than the taupe my screen displayed. If it fit, it wouldn't have shipped - back to Magellan's.

This jacket has all the inside pockets necessary to allow you to travel without a purse. The jacket is roomy enough that when loaded, it still fits comfortably and looks normal - not bulky. It doesn't wrinkle, sheds rain, and is lightweight enough to keep on even when you go inside. Love it!

This jacket worked perfectly for me on a recent trip to the Pacific NW. It is very really versatile - dressier than a windbreaker or athletic jacket, and much more flattering. I'm average height and found the overall length to be perfect. As others reported, the sleeves are a bit long. The fabric is very soft.

I bought this coat for a spring trip overseas, but find myself reaching for it often at home during the wet spring and mild summer we're having here. The fabric is soft and comfy to wear, even indoors, but it still cuts the wind and keeps rain off. I tested it for rain by dashing from my dinner restaurant to St. Mark's Square in Venice to observe a nice spring thunderstorm & downpour (and saw the square empty of people!). The jacket kept the rain off my shoulders (didn't have the hood so my hair got wet.) You can roll up the sleeves, so it becomes an easy casual layer, almost like a shirt-jacket, when you're out and about and it's not quite warm enough to go jacketless. When you do warm up, you can stuff the jacket in your tote and forget it's there until you need it.

I love all the pockets and the color. I almost sent it back because I'm petite. The sleeves were too long and generally felt too large for me. I love this coat so I'll have it altered, I just couldn't part with it and yes I love the Magellan quality.

Filled a gap in my travel wardrobe. Very comfortable for European travel but needed a sweater underneath on a chilly day. Roomy and packed easily. Didn't use all the featured pockets but might in the future.

This coat was exactly what I was looking for. Plenty of pockets so I don't have to carry a purse. Lightweight but warm enough for most occasions. I am glad I found this coat.

I like the coat but would prefer the type of zipper that can be opened up from the bottom as well as from the top, because when I sit, it is a bit tight across the thighs.

Love this coat. Lots of zippered pockets to hold important items. Like cell phone, wallet, boarding pass, gum, etc. Left everything in the pockets as coat went through airport security. No problem. Lightweight and dressy looking. Can't wait to wear it to Europe next year.

Basically, I like the Cafe Coat, but it would have been even nicer if it had one more button - at the waist line. I am hoping it will be a great spring and fall, light-weight jacket.

Great-no wrinkle-travel coat. Wore it/carried in backpack strap while in Japan. After a full day stapped to my backpack very few wrinkles which 'fell out' after a short time of wearing. Would highly recommend

I have the original Museum Jacket which I LOVE! I thought the Cafe Coat would be the same, and it is except for a major difference. The open pocket is too low on the jacket and I cannot fit my hands into it. I am 5' tall, and the jacket is just too long for a short person. I sadly returned it. If you're tall, GREAT BUY FOR YOU! A bottom zipper would be a great addition as well.

Someone put real thought into designing this coat! It is almost perfect for an early summer trip to Europe. Warm enough to handle morning chill, but lightweight and easy to carry when it warms up. Very nice lining makes it easy to slip on and off, and all the pockets are wonderful!!! I was originally looking for something dressier, but with its beautiful fabric, a scarf jazzes it up very nicely. Like the previous reviewer, I wish the hood folded into the collar but overall a great buy!

This coat works very well for travel. It keeps me dry in light and heavier rain, and also warm in low to medium wind. I wish that the hood folded into the collar to be out of the way, but other than that, it's great.
