Poor Performance

I was disappointed in it's ability to generate a charge after sitting in full sun most of the day. My advice would be to buy a portable battery rather than spend the money for the solar cell.

Works as advertised

I have only had this interesting device for a couple of weeks. I have used it one to charge my phone from about 50%. It performs as advertised. A couple of things I like about it (why I bought it in the first place): - It's the largest capacity battery I could find, 2400mAh (yes, I'm an electronics tech) - It's about the size of a pack of 100s cigarettes, maybe a shade bigger - The LED flashlight actually is decent. It wouldn't replace a "real" flashlight but it would help you find yours - It recharges by solar panels Unfortunately, that is the one big down fall: the solar panels. Where it takes 4 to 8 hours to charge it by plug, depending on state of depletion. It takes the solar panels "a FULL day in BRIGHT sunlight" ... I hate to think what some clouds would do to that time. Fortunately, I'm not really planning to us the panels except after a hurricane or something. One wall charge should give me 3 cell phone charges, so it's 99% practical. Would I buy it again? Yep, without question.

Good back-up power

I recently used the charger on a two week vacation through Europe to charge my i-pod and cell phone. The charger was able to completely charge each and still have power on one full charge. I did find that even in direct sun it took longer than advertised to completely charge on solar. Charging from an outlet went well.

Very useful solar charger

After spending 2 days at the beach with this charger I'd recommend it as a great way to keep portable electronic things from going dead. My Droid X was down to 20% and after plugging into the Fatcat it was back up to 80% in an hour. At that point the Fatcat needed charging (sadly, it can't do both at once so I only gave it it 4 stars) but it was great to have and I may even get another one. Lots of different adapters come with it including one for iPods but not one to fit my wife's flip phone.

I used it only one time and it worked great. With all of the extra conections it has this is the only charger we need to carry on trips for all of our electronic items.
